Seniors With Swag

Style, Wisdom, Attitude and Grace played a great part of the day’s event.

Approximately 100 seniors and others attending the successful Seniors With SWAG event put on by Playmas Montreal Cultural Association last Saturday at Dawson College. The afternoon into evening upbeat and inspiring time was spent with the audience enjoying tea, coffee, fruits and cookies and later, a wonderful dinner which included wine, dessert and great conversation.  The event was emceed by Gemma Raeburn-Baynes, President and Founder of Playmas Montreal.

The Founder and Facilitator of Seniors With SWAG, Mrs. Sophia Bishop, did not leave the audience wanting for more.  She gave them everything they needed in a light and entertaining way.  Her Elevated Conversation with tea and cookies touched on subjects that are relevant with today’s issues. Her Mindful moments and memories section started the program with recognition and celebration of loved ones and those no longer with us.  Guests were able to converse with each other and meet others whom they did not know with Sophia’s Meet Your Match Mix and Mingle section where cards with quotes were passed around and the audience had to find their match with the person finishing their quote.  What fun the seniors had with this exercise. The afternoon went on with a very entertaining and exciting Elevated Conversation and Fashion Show with the Montreal Ebony Models joining with senior models from The Ragging Grannies, St. Antoine Seniors Centre and Council for Black Aging, making that intergenerational connection.  Of course, Skipper Dean and Animator DJ Sheldon Kagan did not disappoint.

Congratulations to our first Seniors With SWAG awardees, Dr. Daphne Nahmiash, and Mr. Fo Niemi.

So many great comments were received from the guests that it has inspired Playmas Montreal to come again next year.  Another fabulous event by Playmas Montreal Cultural Association!
