25th Celebration
Empowering Black Youth for a Brighter Future!
The Gem Star Circle of Excellence provides scholarships and mentorship to high-achieving Black Grade 11 students in Montreal. This initiative supports students with financial aid, year-long mentorship, and leadership development opportunities to help them excel academically and professionally.
Our Goal:
We aim to raise $40,000 to fund over 25 scholarships. Your support will provide these students with the resources they need to succeed and lead.
Why Your Support Matters:
Black youth in Montreal face systemic barriers in education. By donating, you help bridge these gaps and empower students to reach their full potential.
We’re proud to collaborate with WIBCA (West Island Black Community Association), our fiduciary, ensuring donations are securely managed and tax-deductible.

Testimonials
As a mentor for the Gem*Star Circle of Excellence Program, my experience has been deeply rewarding. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the incredible growth and resilience of these talented students as they navigate their academic journeys. Guiding them through challenges, providing support, and sharing knowledge has allowed me to see firsthand the impact of mentorship on shaping confident, well-rounded leaders. It’s been an honor to contribute to a program that is truly empowering the next generation.

Kaleel John
2023-2024 Mentor of Program and Business Consultant
The Playmas Montreal Cultural Association’s annual Taste of Tea party is truly a standout event. Celebrated during International Women’s Month, it serves to honor the remarkable contributions of deserving women in Montreal.
As a recipient of the Women of Merit Award, I can personally attest to the inspiring impact of this honor. The recognition not only celebrates individual achievements but also fosters a sense of community and empowerment among women.

Reoccuring Mentor for the Gem*Star Program and President of West Island Black Community (WIBCA)
My name is Kenya; I’m going to college next year, and I think the GemStar Program is a wonderful program. It teaches you so many good skills for next year. It helps you for growth and for many activities that you do, and you help volunteer. So I’m really, really thankful to be part of this program, and I’m really hoping for future kids to come here and experience what we did. It’s a really wonderful opportunity. My mentor was really good; she really taught me different things. She taught me so many things that I’m going to use in future life, and I just really appreciate her. She really helped me in all my ways until now, so I’m really thankful for that.
